Initiatives

Initiatives are projects with employment opportunities for Toronto residents who meet certain criteria. Criteria can include your age, where you live, whether or not you receive social assistance, or other factors.  Check out the initiatives below to see if any are right for you.

Partnership to Advance Youth Employment

The Partnership to Advance Youth Employment program provides youth under the age of 30 with one-on-one support, referrals to training and education, networking/mentoring opportunities and jobs with career potential.

Casino Woodbine

The City of Toronto is working with Casino Woodbine to help local job seekers in Rexdale and members of equity-seeking groups prepare for and be successful in competing for jobs at Casino Woodbine.

Toronto Community Housing Revitalization

The City of Toronto is working with Toronto Community Housing to help residents find jobs who live in the following communities:  250 Davenport, Alexandra Park, Allenbury Gardens, Lawrence Heights, Leslie Nymark and Regent Park.

Investing In Neighbourhoods

The Investing In Neighbourhoods (IIN) offers meaningful and rewarding paid jobs at non-profit organizations for Toronto residents who receive assistance from Ontario Works.

Job Incentive Program

The Job Incentive Program (JIP) offers volunteer opportunities in the Toronto Public Service for Toronto residents who receive assistance from Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program. 

Waterfront Toronto Employment Initiative

The City of Toronto along with a number of partners established the Waterfront Toronto Employment Initiative (WTEI) to help Toronto residents access employment opportunities generated by the many development projects that will be taking place on the waterfront.
