Investing In Neighbourhoods - Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for job opportunities through the Investing in Neighbourhoods Program, interested candidates must be OW participants living in Toronto. Investing in Neighbourhoods job opportunities are in not for profit community organizations and enable OW participants to: increase their skill level, develop contacts with employers, and obtain references with the goal of securing permanent employment.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing the organization's internal and external communication initiatives to various stakeholders and audiences.

 

  • Plan, coordinate and edit the bi-monthly organization's newsletter
  • Assist with developing organization's website content
  • Assist with the development of annual report and coordinate with vendors accordingly (graphic/web designers, printers)
  • Assist with video content generation for organization's social media channels
  • Draft and distribute press releases and liaise with press/media as required
  • Organise photo and video library
  • Support the implementation of fundraising and awareness campaigns

Covid-19 Requirements:

  • Requirement to work from home at the discretion of the employer

  • Required to follow all Covid 19 guidelines and public health requirements

Skills and Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required
  • Previous administrative and project coordination experience, an ability to multi-task, good interpersonal skills are and comfort in a public facing role are assets.
  • Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly for graphic design and video editing
  • Has previous work experience with an arts organization or in the not-for-profit sector
  • A bachelor's degree or diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience in communications, journalism, public relations, communication studies or a related field is an asset

 

 

By the end of their time with the organization, the Communications Coordinator will be ready to step into a similar role in any organization, particularly one in the not-for-profit sector
