Join the award-winning Toronto Public Service as an Exempt (Senior Admin/HR) Trainee, providing administrative support and assistance as part of the Work Based Learning program.

Your primary responsibilities as an Exempt (Senior Admin/HR) Trainee will be varied. Specifically, you will:

  • Assist with planning and organizing various office functions and assignments
  • Respond to requests and provides information or directs inquiries to appropriate staff
  • Collect and assist in compiling data of a confidential nature related to labour relations and/or human resources for others to analyze and/or assists in the analysis. Documents findings
  • Input/retrieve/update/maintain data
  • Assist in organizing and presenting data
  • Assist with calculations
  • Exercises caution and discretion with labour relations, human resources and other confidential information
  • Assist in the preparation, research and processing of documents including confidential labour relations nature
  • Travels to various locations and/or special events to provide assistance

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Administrative experience, providing support to a team of professionals in a relevant work environment i.e. Human Resources or related field.
  • Experience preparing and formatting standard correspondence, reports, forms/templates and presentation material.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Post-secondary diploma or certification in a Human Resources or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff including colleagues; City staff and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in handling confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Notes

IT background is an asset

Knowledge on compliance, audits, governance and standardization is an asset.
