Job Description

Major Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities as a Finance Trainee will be varied. Specifically, you will:
- Assist with accounting/purchasing /budget duties.
- Assist with the compilation of accounting/purchasing/ budget and statistical information.
- Performs computer related tasks such as data entry in SAP, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, etc.
- Assist in processing purchasing documents, payments, invoices, collections, etc.
- Enters and updates and matches financial data, account information, etc.
- Assist in processing accounts, billings, collections, etc.
- Collect, compile, extracts and organizes data for others to use/analyze
- Assist with calculations and the preparation of financial statements.
- Distributes documentation, files, and photocopies
- Responds to enquiries by referring to appropriate staff.
- Assist with filing, tracking and retrieval of documents/files
- Assists with packing, lifting, moving, and unpacking deliveries/supplies
- Provide support to Accounting Assistants in their appropriate functions, e.g. timely processing of invoices, petty cash reimbursements, grants, transfers of funds and any other payment documents, inputting data for journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, invoice and credit memo processing, payments and deposits, customer refunds, vendor information updates and other related tasks.
- Assist in testing business transactions or processes to be followed in the financial system as well as updating policies and procedures for these processes.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Experience in accounting or finance administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong Computer skills including experience in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e. MS Word Excel, PowerPoint).
You must also have:
- Strong Mathematical and analytical skills.
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with staff and clients in an efficient and diplomatic manner, both in person and over the phone.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.
Notes:
IT background is an asset.
Paralegal experience is an asset.
Knowledge on compliance, audits, governance and standardization is an asset.
If successful, a Police Reference Check and TB/Immunization clearance will be required.
