Major Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibilities as an IT Trainee will be varied. Specifically, you will:

  • Answers calls, takes messages and directs inquiries to appropriate staff to answer questions/handle requests
  • Collects data for others to analyze
  • Assists with organizing and presenting data collected
  • Assists others with drafting documents
  • Documents/maintains/inputs/updates data
  • Researches faults/problems for others to analyze/process
  • Researches software, hardware and peripheral devices
  • Assists with systems tests
  • Assists in maintaining inventory
  • Assists with simple programming
  • Assists with installing, maintaining and updating various hardware/software/systems
  • Assists with web design and maintenance
  • Assists with packing, loading, lifting, moving, delivering and unpacking equipment
  • Travels to various locations and participate in special events, shows or meetings

 

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to: 

  • Experience in performing IT administration or clerical support duties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of software packages (e.g Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience in extracting data from various databases. 

You must also have: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively with minimal supervision, deal with conflicting priorities and work demands
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients and members of the public
  • Ability to work effectively in team oriented environment or independently
  • Ability to travel to various sites within the City of Toronto as required

 

Notes: 

IT background is an asset

Knowledge on compliance, audits, governance and standardization is an asset.
