Investing In Neighbourhoods - Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for job opportunities through the Investing in Neighbourhoods Program, interested candidates must be OW participants living in Toronto. Investing in Neighbourhoods job opportunities are in not for profit community organizations and enable OW participants to: increase their skill level, develop contacts with employers, and obtain references with the goal of securing permanent employment.


At the time of this posting, the position is a combination of remote and on-site.  The employer may change this arrangement in order to comply with Public Health Guidelines.

Job description:

  • Coordinate career services and activities for clients including coaching and interfacing with job search supports
  • Develop effective job coaching and employment plans for clients
  • Assist clients to understand their career goals and help them overcome their personal barriers and develop timetables and plans for achieving their career goals
  • Mentor and motivate clients in identifying professional opportunities and provide advice and direction on how to best approach different jobs
  • Review resumes and cover letters of job seekers and provide comments and feedback
  • Conduct mock interviews to assist participants in preparing to meet potential employers


Skills Requirements:

  • Ability to assess client needs, identify appropriate services and or referrals
  • Fluency in one or more South Asian languages (reading, writing and speaking) being able to communicate effectively to provide linguistically appropriate services to newcomers
  • Experience in employment coaching, resume and cover letter preparation
  • Excellent interpersonal relationships, communication skills and ability to prepare monthly statistical and narrative reports
  • Ability to adhere to regulations and standards
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
  • Experience working with people with disabilities an asset
  • Post-Secondary Education in Social Services, Social Work or other Human Services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited institution an asset
