Investing In Neighbourhoods - Eligibility Criteria:

Investing in Neighbourhoods job opportunities are in not for profit community organizations and enable OW participants to: increase their skill level, develop contacts with employers, and obtain references with the goal of securing permanent employment.

Job Description:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs-Custodial services as assigned by management, including but not limited to supporting the daily cleaning and sanitizing of workplace as part of the COVID-19 hygiene plan-Work at heights to clean, replace/repair light fixture bulbs/tubes as required-Prepare/set-up rooms (including Audio/Visual equipment) for various events/activities and facilitate post-event cleaning
  • Assist with equipment set up including, phone network systems tasks such as moves, set-up, basic troubleshooting and general support
  • Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces as required-Assist in supporting the company's Education & Participation programming i.e. Summer Drama Camp and other events as requested by management-Assist in co-ordination with guest theatre companies and community rentals for all operational, technical and staffing requirements
  • Perform security-related duties including but not limited to: building lockup, key management and acting as Fire Warden
  • Perform all other duties within the Operations Assistant role as assigned or needed including assisting other departments as required-Be available for occasional evening and weekend work as required

 

COVID Requirements

  • In addition to the wearing of appropriate task related PPE, the Operations Assistant must also correctly use and wear provided fabric and/or non-surgical masks at all times in the workplace or as prescribed. Full face shields may also be worn, but in addition to a proper fitting face mask and not in place of a mask
  • Follow all provincial, municipal legislation and employer pandemic protocols, including but not limited to:
  • Daily COVID-19 Self-assessments; daily COVID-19 declarations; participating in YPT's Contact Tracking program-Maintaining 2m physical distancing from others; observing proper respiratory hygiene; maintain proper hand hygiene regimen
  • Immediate reporting of a positive COVID-19 test result to employer; staying home and self-isolating if symptomatic or as directed by public health/medical officials or by your employer.

 

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrates good communication skills
  • Works well with other but also able to work independently; self-motivated
  • Able to perform tasks that require a hands-on-approach
  • Comfortable working with tools
  • Demonstrates creative problem-solving skills, able to work under pressure
  • Able to work with and troubleshoot various types of technology from computers to audio-visual equipment
  • Comfortable performing physical activities such as lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check is required
