Investing In Neighbourhoods - Eligibility Criteria

Investing in Neighbourhoods job opportunities are in not for profit community organizations and enable OW participants to: increase their skill level, develop contacts with employers, and obtain references with the goal of securing permanent employment.

Job Description

  • Handles telephone calls and emails regarding in-kind donations and volunteer opportunities.

  • Assists with all aspects of our food banks including moving, storing, and distributing food.

  • Supports the Centre with website updates and helps to create social media posts

  • Assists with the development and distribution of Newsletter, Annual Reports and other documents as appropriate

  • Assists program staff and volunteers/students in planning and executing events

  • Assists with registration and scheduling of volunteers

  • Maintains an inventory of gift-in-kind donations, sorts, cleans, stores, and distributes in-kind donations.



  • General knowledge of an academic or technical discipline normally acquired through completion of a community college program
  • Leadership experience, and ability to work with and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to learn about Massey Centre’s practices, policies and procedures, and desire to share its mission with the community
  • Availability, flexibility and sincere intention to fulfill a year-long community service commitment
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude toward helping others
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Maturity, dependability and good judgment in relating to Centre staff, clients, families, volunteers and partners
  • Computer competency in word processing, Excel, databases, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to move heavy donations on a repetitive basis.
  • Ability to withstand a physically demanding work environment
  • Ability to work according to Health and Safety standards
  • Ability to work from multiple sites and travel between sites as needed.
