Investing In Neighbourhoods - Eligibility Criteria

Job Description

  • Complete residential unit repairs (i.e. light replacements, faucets, damage to drywalls, cupboards)
  • Collect and remove garbage and recyclable materials, and dispose of hazardous waste
  • Clean external areas such as walkways in cooperation with landscaping operations (snow, leaves and dirt removal, and gardening)
  • Move residential unit furniture, equipment and supplies using dollies and carts
  • Liaise with residential housing workers and arrange for physical set-up of space for groups and meetings
  • Conduct inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, and replenish regularly
  • Identify maintenance problems in a timely manner
  • Inspect mechanical equipment and support supervisor with minor repairs and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision
  • Manual skills, minor repairs and maintenance experience
  • Knowledge and experience working in a community based/residential housing setting an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to consent to criminal and vulnerable sector screening background checks and ability to obtain your fingerprints, from an accredited private agency, to be submitted along with consent form for background checks
  • Ability to follow organization's policies including Confidentiality and Code of Conduct
  • Ability to withstand a physically demanding work environment
  • Ability to work according to Health and Safety standards
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to be exposed to various weather conditions when performing outdoor maintenance duties, inspections and transporting items between buildings
  • Ability to work from multiple sites and travel between sites as needed
