Job Description

Join the award-winning Toronto Public Service as a Technical Trainee, providing research support and assistance as part of a Work Based Learning Program for various programs, initiatives and projects.

Major Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities as a Technical Trainee will be varied. Specifically, you will:
- Assists with collecting, organizing and presenting of information and reports from the field
- Gathering and analyzing data, and documenting business requirements
- Assists with indexing, searching, retrieving and filing of records and entering information to various databases
- Answers inquiries, provides general information, takes messages and directs inquiries to appropriate staff
- Responds to customer inquiries regarding permit issuances in person, over the phone and via email
- Assist with the implementation of various initiatives and projects
- Conducts research and analysis as needed to support project deliverables
- Prepare project documentation and maintain project files
- Support the engineering team by assisting with technical tasks and projects as needed.
- Document technical process related to engineering studies, work management, and assets tracking to ensure that they are easily understood and accessible to the team
Key Qualifications
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Experience gathering, analyzing and documenting data
- Experience working in a customer service environment, responding to customer inquiries and dealing directly with staff and the public in person and by phone
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision both independently and as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
Note:
IT background is an asset
Knowledge on compliance, audits, governance and standardization is an asset.
